Icky aliens

Did you know the aliens in Alien ("xenomorphs") have eye sockets? They kind of have a human-ish skull with a big elongated jelly helmet around it, but only the parts below the nose are exposed. That "jelly helmet" is kind of transparent near the front. I guess that's so they can see, only they don't seem to have eyeballs. I guess those inconsistencies can be explained by them having been engineered by the white giants in Prometheus. Because it would be weird if an animal evolved to have bony sockets that protect unimportant tissue.
